NY Times: Harvard Law School Seeks $400 Million. Harvard Law School announced today that it was starting a $400 million capital campaign, the largest fund-raising effort undertaken by a law school. [Weblogs At Harvard]

Cool.  I smell a billion dollar endowment on the horizon.  An interesting thing is that some law schools hem and haw over whether or not to run a capital campaign, fearing some sort of harm if they happpen to fall short of some sort of goal.  I've heard about central University systems that stop or hinder law school campaigns because they may detract from a Uiversity-wide drive.  I've also schools raise lots of money by simply going looking for it.  And that's what you have to do, and that's what Harvard does.
