Microsoft to buy Net collaboration firm - Tech News - CNET.com - Microsoft on Tuesday announced the pending acquisition of PlaceWare, a provider of Web-based collaboration services. The companies expect to close the transaction during the first quarter of 2003, after which time Mountain View, Calif.-based PlaceWare will become part of Microsoft's Information Worker division.
