Microsoft to Release New Web Services Spec. According to sources, Microsoft and a group of companies will release a new Web services specification late Tuesday, which will help provide Web services interoperability and support for occasionally-connected devices and systems, [eWEEK Technology News]

This is intended to compliment UDDI and other event driven specs.

Information on a number of large-scale Windows systems including Dell's data warehouse and match.com's website.  Worth noting the reliable scability seems to come in the form of Windows 2003.
